Services

Teaching and mentoring other professionals

Savigny Geoscience offers teaching and course content production services tailored to the specific technical and/or project needs of clients. These services leverage Dr. Savigny’s experience lecturing on a wide range of engineering and geology subjects at some of Canada's top Universities, including the University of British Columbia, University of Alberta, Queen’s University, and the University of Toronto.  Examples of course offerings include technical writing, mentoring, and site-specific geology at locations in Western, Central and Northern Canada as well as international locations in Italy, Colombia, Chile and Argentina.

Research

Savigny Geoscience excels at interpreting in situ geological conditions in cases where on-ground assessments are not possible, or are limited due to timing or cost constraints. This capability derives from Dr. Savigny’s professional experience, extensive knowledge of published literature and keen ability to interpret on-ground conditions using stereo air photos and a wide variety of remote sensing imagery. He has also used the techniques to optimize costly site investigation expenditures.

Independent expert review

Savigny Geoscience specializes in providing both proactive and reactive expert reviews. Proactive review of projects involves critiquing the adequacy of geological models developed by others, and identifying areas of geological uncertainty with high risk cost exposure. Reactive review involves forensic assessment of projects where unforeseen geological conditions led to poor performance of engineered structures, often resulting in costly litigation.

Data Reduction and Analysis

Savigny Geoscience leverages modern data management and analysis techniques and combines them with five decades of engineering and geology experience to help extract actionable meaning from data.
